Isegaham beach is a great place to go and is in the top 88 swimming beaches in Japan. It's quite beautiful and it is enclosed on each side of the beach making it a great place for just playing in the sea. In the summer the beach gets really busy and the water is full of people. It's great! You can play with a body board and not worry about not being any good at it (just watch out for little kids!), throw beach balls and freebies in the sea (if it goes off then somebody will always throw it back), try surfing in a rubber boat (if you have one), try surfing with a blow-up dolphin (if you have one) and anything thing like that. Just try to stay in the marked area (even though it's busy) or you might get shouted at by the lifesavers (some of them are my students!). The waves can get quite big so take a bit of care. Isegahama is also a good place for having BBQ or camping and to a lesser extent for surfing (it depends how busy it is). It's also got good facilities with toilets, lighting to about 10 or 11pm during the summer, a cafe nearby called "Thanks Very Cafe" (a bit expensive but pretty good) and car parking. It's also just a few minutes (by car) from the shopping centre with Jusco and Homewide. From the South end of the beach there are some footpaths and if you go down into the next bay there is a little secret shrine in a cave at shore level. |
